A post graduate course will precede the main meeting on June 5, 2009. The post graduate course, organized in conjunction with annual ASRI meetings, is an evolving theme and designed to acquaint attendees with new questions and new techniques underlying the normal and abnormal events at the maternal-fetal interface. Trainee travel awards will be given to the clinical and laboratory scientists in early training stage. Be sure to sign up for the course when you register!
Each year, the Dr. John Gusdon Memorial New Investigator Award is awarded to a new investigator with trainee status (i.e., graduate student, postdoctoral scientist, or resident) who has made a significant contribution by presenting an outstanding research paper during the annual meeting of the ASRI. This award is given annually in memory of Dr. John Gusdon, a founding member of the ASRI, and an advocate of student participation in ASRI meetings. Abstracts are evaluated by a committee and the top 5 competitors selected to make an oral presentation at the meeting (in addition to a poster). When you submit your abstract, please denote whether you would like to be considered for the Gusdon Award. Also, be sure to read the instructions to complete your application for this award.
The Annual Awards Banquet, scheduled for Tuesday, June 9th, is open to all attendees at no additional charge. Additional tickets for guests may be purchased during registration.
It is hot and humid in Orlando in June. The average daily high temperature in January is 33°C (91°F) while the average daily temperature is 22°C (72°F). It is usually sunny although sudden, violent and short thunderstorms are very common in the afternoon. Bring an umbrella or poncho if travelling outside in the afternoon. Sunscreen is essential when bathing or outside for extended periods. Regardless of the weather, we can promise you good science and good times! For the meeting, we are asking all participants, both speakers and attendees, to dress casually – bermuda shorts and golf shorts are fine!
